On July 2022, the Associated Press, an independent global news organization posted, “The spread of monkeypox in the U.S. could represent the dawn of a new sexually transmitted disease, though some health officials say the virus that causes pimple-like bumps might yet be contained before it gets firmly established.” on their website. This rendering of the Monkeypox virus has been carried on by other news outlets such as Outlook India and NBC NewYork.
The statement [Monkeypox] could represent the dawn of a new sexually transmitted disease is incorrect. In fact, it is borderline fake news and misleading.
